CRANK™ · Industrial Inspection Platform

CRANK™ Inspection Lab

Open ready to inspect.

Inspection Lab turns a compatible Android phone into a local-first field inspection workspace. Visual, thermal, vibration, acoustic and recording tools share one retained-evidence system, one Project / Work Record context and one operator-first design language.

Inspection Lab modules

One Lab. Multiple ways to see the machine.

Visual Inspector is one module inside Inspection Lab — not the product by itself. Each inspection mode produces evidence that can live under the same project, work record and retained evidence library.

Visual Inspector

Camera-first inspection, HALO controls, SNAP & EDIT, Quick Snap, Multi-Snap, pins, notes, A/B dimensions, distance, Watch and retained-image inspection.

Thermal Inspection

FLIR ONE-enabled thermal evidence, radiometric capture, palettes, measurement evidence and retained thermal review. FLIR hardware remains optional to Inspection Lab as a whole.

Active development / validation

Vibration

Phone-accelerometer relative/trending evidence, timed or manual acquisition, retained records and analysis intended for repeatable field comparison rather than calibrated industrial certification.

Working evidence path

Acoustic

Relative acoustic instrumentation with FAST/SLOW response, running LEQ, seven-segment display, synchronized analog sweep, rolling trend, waveform/FFT review and on-device acoustic-path self-check. For equipment inspection, switch between raw dBFS and evidence-backed REL dB referenced to the same Work Record + measurement point.

Field Recorder

Inspection video evidence independent of Support Recorder. In device-camera mode, tap the live view or use SNAP STILL to retain Visual evidence without stopping the video. Standard PAUSE / RESUME, STOP & SAVE, DISCARD and in-CRANK playback controls keep the whole recording workflow inside Inspection Lab.

Evidence + Work Records

Visual, Thermal, Vibration, Acoustic and Video evidence can remain Unassigned, be assigned later, moved between Project / Work Record contexts, reopened, shared or exported as derived copies.

Unified evidence system

The common operating layer

CRANK HALO™ keeps the Lab connected.

Camera-first Home

Inspection Lab launches into the live Visual Inspector rather than a conventional main menu. The live camera is immediately useful even before another module is selected.

HALO navigation

The live Visual ring keeps fast commands close: Capture, Watch, Distance, Light, Voice and Lab. LAB opens the broader Inspect, Record, Evidence, Work, Reports and System families.

Contextual guidance

Translucent instruction cards teach the selected action in place. Help text remains stationary while a luminous wipe attracts attention without sacrificing readability.

Project + evidence architecture

Capture first. Organize safely. Never confuse a copy with the original.

1 · InspectOpen ready to work in Visual, Thermal, Vibration, Acoustic or Recording.
2 · RetainEvidence is allowed even when a Project / Work Record was not created first.
3 · OrganizeAssign or move retained evidence later with the Evidence File Manager.
4 · Use externallyCreate Gallery/share/export copies without exposing the canonical evidence library.
Active Project is first-class.

The Visual Inspector header exposes the current Project / Work Record and lets the operator switch where future evidence belongs. Switching active context does not silently move existing evidence.

Protected evidence standard.

CRANK's canonical evidence is not intended to appear as ordinary consumer Gallery/Photos media. External Gallery or share copies are derived copies so casual deletion outside Inspection Lab does not become accidental evidence deletion.

Field observation

Visual Watch is growing into a machine-observation subsystem.

Motion Watch

Detects meaningful visual change inside a defined zone using settle/persistence/hysteresis rather than reacting to a single noisy frame.

Flow Watch

Observes visible movement through a selected zone when the field question is whether material, product or a visible process is moving.

Rotary Watch

Uses one defined reflective timing strip as the optical target. CRANK reports green TIMING MARK DETECTED or red TIMING MARK NOT DETECTED and withholds unsupported RPM.

Safety + truth

Inspection evidence should make uncertainty smaller — not hide it.

Inspection Lab separates measured, calibrated/approximate and unavailable states. It does not invent RGB distance, a tach reading, a temperature, or a safety conclusion when the hardware and evidence do not support one.

Supplemental inspection tool — not a safety interlock.

CRANK does not detect, eliminate, isolate or control hazards. Follow applicable laws, employer/site rules, manufacturer instructions, lockout/tagout procedures, guarding, PPE and safe-work practices. Never apply or refresh a Rotary Watch timing strip on moving equipment.
