Focused mobile condition inspection · Powered by CRANK™

CRANK™ Thermal Lab

Temperature. Vibration. Acoustic. Nothing else.

A lightweight field-inspection platform being built for equipment condition evidence: capture thermal measurements, preserve repeatable records, compare the same asset over time, and turn inspection evidence into a customer-ready report without turning the phone into a general-purpose maintenance suite.

Focused by design: Temperature • Vibration • Acoustic • Records • Trending • Reports • Device Migration

Three measurements. One equipment history.

The product boundary is intentionally narrow. Thermal evidence is the active development core. Vibration and acoustic analysis are locked into the final scope because they complement thermal inspection without turning the app into CRANK itself.

Current development coreTemperature

Radiometric thermal capture, visible context, MSX/overlay/stack review, exact-point temperature pins, calibration support and evidence packages tied to the inspection record.

Locked final scopeVibration

Phone-sensor vibration capture for repeatable condition screening, baselines and trend comparison. Repeat tests must use the same measurement location and closely matched orientation.

Locked final scopeAcoustic

Machine and bearing sound signatures using the mobile device microphone, preserved for repeat inspection and comparative frequency analysis rather than general audio recording.

The inspection belongs to the equipment.

Customer, site, asset, component, inspection and capture records are designed to stay connected. The goal is a chronological history that can answer what was measured, where it was measured, which device collected it, and how the condition changed.

Records + repeat inspectionBusiness or personal context, searchable customer/equipment records, asset history and same-component repeat inspections.
Measurement-device truthVibration and acoustic evidence will be stamped with the mobile-device measurement signature so a phone upgrade never masquerades as a valid continuation of the old baseline.
ReportsSelected thermal, vibration and acoustic evidence is intended to feed a local PDF inspection report that can be handed to the user's normal mobile email/share system.
New Device MigrationPlanned direct old-phone-to-new-phone migration preserves history while creating a new measurement baseline for the new device.
Repeatability rule: for meaningful vibration or acoustic trending, use the same mobile device when possible, return to the same relative measurement location, match the original orientation as closely as practical, and reproduce the equipment operating condition.

The thermal camera is the external component.

Current validated development target: FLIR ONE Pro — Android USB-C

The current Android build is being developed and field-tested around the FLIR ONE Pro USB-C thermal camera. The camera is sold separately. Everything else in the locked condition-inspection scope is intended to use capabilities already present in the supported mobile device.

  • Native thermal resolution: 160 × 120
  • Image frequency: 8.7 Hz
  • Measurement ranges include -20°C to 120°C and 0°C to 400°C
  • Camera battery is approximately one hour
Compatibility: confirm the Android USB-C FLIR ONE Pro and the intended mobile device before purchase. Other FLIR ONE-family cameras should not be assumed supported until they are specifically validated by Dingfelder Enterprises.

Local-first field evidence.

Inspection evidence is organized for the operator, not packaged as an advertising profile.

Purposeful scope

If a proposed capability does not improve temperature, vibration, acoustic inspection, records, trending, reports or migration, it belongs in CRANK instead.

In active field development.

The app is not yet publicly released. Thermal acquisition, inspection review, capture records and supporting field workflows are being exercised on real hardware before the public distribution package is finalized.

FLIR SDK / trademark boundary: FLIR and FLIR ONE are trademarks of their respective owner(s). CRANK™ Thermal Lab is an independent Dingfelder Enterprises product. Teledyne FLIR's Developer Program states that public apps using the FLIR Mobile / FLIR ONE SDK are to be submitted for FLIR review and approval before public release. Compatibility references identify supported hardware and do not represent the app as an official FLIR product.
