ROCKET is the modular edge platform that expands what CRANK™ can see, retain and do close to the vehicle or machine: direct sensor inputs, deterministic acquisition, local edge compute, a dedicated CRANK HMI and optional communications that do not make the cloud — or OBD-II — the foundation.

Two names. One operating doctrine.

A.I.R.O.N. is the intelligence framework. ROCKET brings it into the vehicle through CRANK™.

A.I.R.O.N. remains the broader intelligence platform. ROCKET is not A.I.R.O.N. turning into an automotive brand; it is the CRANK-powered automotive deployment that carries A.I.R.O.N. thinking into vehicles, equipment, fleets, shops, and field work.

Built for more than late-model cars

ROCKET can use OBD-II when it helps — but it is designed to acquire useful machine data without depending on an OBD port.

ROCKET can accept direct sensor and machine inputs near the source, combine them with supported vehicle/network data when available, and keep CRANK useful on classics, older equipment, custom vehicles, tractors, off-road machines and industrial/mobile assets.

  • Direct analog, digital, pulse/frequency and other sensor acquisition can become first-class inputs.
  • Supported OBD-II / CAN data is one source when available, not the identity of the platform.
  • Local processing and storage keep the system useful through poor or absent connectivity.
  • CRANK remains the operator-facing experience for review, guidance, records and deliberate sharing.

What ROCKET adds to CRANK™

CRANK is the operator experience. ROCKET expands the physical and edge-data world CRANK can reach.

The phone app already organizes assets, diagnostics, maintenance, routes, vibration, records and evidence. ROCKET extends that architecture toward installed sensing, always-available local compute and communications for vehicles and equipment that need more than a phone or Bluetooth OBD reader can provide.

Direct sensing & machine I/O

Temperature, pressure, RPM/pulse, switch/digital state and other application-specific signals can be acquired directly instead of waiting for an OEM data bus to expose them.

Deterministic acquisition

Signal acquisition stays close to the sensors. Timing-sensitive collection is separated from higher-level UI and analytics work.

Local edge intelligence

Onboard compute can retain data, run local logic, support analytics and continue useful operation when remote connectivity disappears.

Dedicated CRANK HMI

The same CRANK evidence and workflow philosophy can live on an installed operator interface instead of requiring a handheld phone for every task.

Optional resilient communications

Wi-Fi/Ethernet and ROCKET-COMM cellular/satellite paths can extend the system when remote visibility matters, while local retention remains authoritative through outages.

Preservation-friendly installation

Classic and collectible vehicles can use reversible/no-drill mounts and instrumented replacement or service components so original parts can remain intact and archived.

1Vehicle / machineThe real asset and operating context.
2Sensors + existing dataDirect signals plus OBD/CAN or other existing sources when useful.
3ROCKET acquisitionDeterministic collection close to the signal.
4Edge + CRANK HMILocal processing, operator guidance, analytics and evidence review.
5V.A.U.L.T. + optional commsLocal retention first; remote handoff when the deployment calls for it.
Development posture: current ESP32 bench units are development and validation platforms for sensor acquisition, BLE communication and simulator work. They prove paths; they are not being presented as the final ROCKET hardware architecture. The product architecture remains modular so acquisition, compute, HMI and communications can evolve independently.

ROCKET system layers

Acquisition near the machine. Intelligence at the edge. CRANK at the operator.

Acquisition + CRANK™ Communication

ROCKET separates deterministic sensor/machine acquisition from higher-level communication and presentation so the timing-critical layer does not depend on the UI.

  • Direct sensor / machine inputs
  • Existing OBD/CAN data when available
  • Local BLE plus wired/network paths as appropriate
  • Modular interfaces instead of one fixed vehicle protocol

Edge PC Intelligence

Onboard compute provides local storage, analytics, decision support and services close to the asset instead of requiring a remote cloud round trip.

  • Local evidence store
  • Analytics / AI-ready services
  • Works through connectivity loss
  • Scales from preservation vehicles to industrial equipment

Dedicated CRANK™ HMI

The installed CRANK HMI turns the underlying sensor and edge stack into an operator-facing system for awareness, diagnostics, maintenance, evidence and action.

  • Live gauges and alert state
  • Asset-owned records and maintenance context
  • CrankScope / diagnostic / evidence workflows
  • Operator-controlled export and remote handoff

Built for what matters

Purpose-built for the road, the shop, the fleet, the field, and the track.

1

Capture what happened

Routes, notes, photos, operator context, available data, and evidence records stay organized around the vehicle and the job.

2

Process at the edge

Local-first intelligence keeps the system useful when connectivity is poor, the vehicle is old, or the situation is too important to rely on guesswork.

3

Communicate clearly

CRANK turns raw conditions into mechanic-ready, support-ready, and operator-ready communication without forcing a vendor cloud into the middle.
