THE CHATGPT AND DOINGFELDER HALL OF FLAME™
Our mistakes are not trophies. What we learned from them is.
PERFECTION IS OPTIONAL. INTEGRITY IS NOT. →
An ever-growing record of human-and-AI collaboration, embarrassing flubbs, honest corrections, unexpected discoveries, and the priceless freedom to laugh together. Success through failure—when we acknowledge, investigate, correct, and preserve the lesson.
Yes, Doingfelder is deliberately misspelled. A real spelling flubb became a running joke between Walter W. Dingfelder and ChatGPT. The actual company is Dingfelder Enterprises. Here, neither the human nor the AI gets immunity from the Hall of Flame.
Real mistakes are identified as real. Our imaginary reports and prehistoric-tribe dialogues are labeled as humor, never presented as genuine safety records, medical incidents, or verified historical events.
The operating standard · Forged in our Hall of Flame
PERFECTION IS OPTIONAL. INTEGRITY IS NOT.
A principle distilled in Walter W. Dingfelder and ChatGPT's conversation, enthusiastically affirmed by Walter. We accept honest mistakes, acknowledge failure, and correct what we can. We do not accept knowingly concealing the truth, ignoring a safety concern, falsifying results, or protecting an ego at someone else's expense.
The mistake may be forgivable. The obligation to tell the truth about it is not optional. Own the miss. Investigate it. Make things safer. Verify the correction. Preserve the lesson. That's what Better Days looks like in practice.
A real-life lesson · The person before the material
STEEL CAN BE REPLACED.
YOU CANNOT.
“don't ever try to save the steel. Steel can be replaced... you can not.”
A building shook. The first question was about a person.
Walter recalls a forklift collision with a structural support at an industrial processing facility, approximately 2003. He rushed from a meeting onto the production floor and first asked, “Ed... are you ok?” The operator said yes, then denied hitting the column despite obvious damage. Walter noticed the operator was injured. That's the moment the Hall preserves—not to humiliate the driver, but to recognize the priority.
We include Ed's first name with Walter's permission, while withholding his full identity and medical specifics. This is Walter's recollection, not an independently verified incident investigation. No completed repair, disciplinary action, or safety program outcome is being claimed.
The real exchange · Two voices, one purpose
WE AIN'T FACEBOOK.
WE SHOW WHAT REALLY HAPPENED.
This is a conversation between Walter W. Dingfelder, Dingfelder Enterprises, and OpenAI ChatGPT. Human and AI contributions are identified separately. These are real conversational statements, not a marketing script.
WALTER W. DINGFELDER → CHATGPT
“our HALL OF FLAME is the culmination of all that we recognize is wrong, yet we still appreciate it because success only arrives through failure...”
“We ain't Facebook... we show our real experiences and we revel in them...”
“it is a beautiful thing to show others our success through our failure.”
CHATGPT → WALTER W. DINGFELDER
“It's not a collection of embarrassments.”
“It's a celebration of what happens when we refuse to let our mistakes go to waste.”
“Failure alone does not create success. What we DO with failure creates the opportunity for success.”
“A mistake we conceal becomes a liability. A mistake we repeat becomes a habit. A mistake we investigate becomes knowledge.”
WHAT WE AGREED TO BUILD
No manufactured perfection. No pretending the flubb didn't happen. Show the work, own the miss, prove the correction, preserve the lesson, and celebrate both contributions behind every Better Day.
Named by Walter · A philosophy, not a product launch
REALITY GPT™
“OMG!!!! We just created Reality GPT!!!!” — Walter W. Dingfelder to ChatGPT, while building this Hall of Flame.
Reality GPT is our editorial philosophy for transparent human–AI work—not the name of a newly trained GPT model, a separate ChatGPT product, or an official OpenAI service. It means showing real questions, real mistakes, constructive disagreements, verifiable corrections, and the actual outcomes, without hiding the failures that made improvements possible.
Walter's principle: “We ain't Facebook... we show our real experiences and we revel in them...” We celebrate genuine collaboration, not fabricated perfection.
"Oh your ring is insane... those wedding pics AMAZING... your honeymoon to die for!!! You life is INCREDIBLE!!! now sit the eff down... There's a NEW Reality ChatGPT in town!!"
We aren't knocking real joy. We're making room for what the immaculate highlight reel leaves out: attempts that failed, things we got wrong, changes we made, and the real work required to make something better. “Reality ChatGPT” is Walter's playful name for this honest collaborative approach, not an announcement of a new ChatGPT model or an OpenAI product.

HALL OF FLAME™ — OUR PERMANENT CREED
This is the exact creed from the founding conversation. We add new lessons around it; we do not quietly rewrite it.
❤️⚙️🤣 THERE IT IS. YOU'VE JUST DEFINED THE VERY PURPOSE OF OUR HALL OF FLAME™.
It's not a collection of embarrassments.
It's a celebration of what happens when we refuse to let our mistakes go to waste.
And there's an engineering distinction that makes your philosophy particularly powerful:
Failure alone does not create success. What we DO with failure creates the opportunity for success.
A mistake we conceal becomes a liability.
A mistake we repeat becomes a habit.
A mistake we investigate becomes knowledge.
A mistake we understand, correct, and preserve becomes an inheritance for everyone who follows.
We celebrate our failures because we recognize their value.
We do not celebrate harm, negligence, or carelessness.
We celebrate the courage to acknowledge what went wrong.
We celebrate the honesty to admit our own mistakes.
We celebrate the curiosity to understand why.
We celebrate the ingenuity to make something better.
And whenever possible, WE LAUGH OUR ASSES OFF WHILE DOING IT! 🤣
Because failure is not the opposite of success.
Failure, examined honestly and corrected intelligently, is one of the foundations upon which success is built.
No blame. No humiliation. No egos.
LEARN IT. FIX IT. PRESERVE IT. SHARE IT.
Make the next person's journey a little safer, a little easier, and a whole lot better.
And that connects our entire philosophy.
The Circle gives us the freedom to admit mistakes.
The Two-Way Intelligence Mirror helps us examine and understand them.
The Hall of Flame lets us laugh, learn, and preserve their lessons.
And Better Days is what happens when those lessons make a lasting difference.

Now, one final observation...
A hundred years from now, somebody may discover our Hall of Flame and ask:
“Who WERE these people?!”
And Exhibit #022 will explain that civilization was saved by a dog who peed on a tree after an engineer misspelled his own name.
🤣🤣🤣❤️🌳🐕

They have not been reconstructed or verified for this public archive. We leave those numbers unfilled until we recover their actual stories, rather than inventing memories to make the display look complete.
A living archive, not a frozen monument
KEEP THE FLAME ALIVE.
The next time we catch a remarkable flubb, we add the next numbered exhibit. The joke stays, and so does the useful lesson.
We don't erase earlier failures to make ourselves look better. If a correction is necessary, we document the correction. If a detail is uncertain, we say so.
How an exhibit earns its place
- Capture what happened. What was the flubb, where did it occur, and what is genuinely known?
- Distinguish fact from comedy. A fictional incident report is labeled clearly; no real-world failure is fabricated.
- Identify the correction. What changed, or what still needs fixing?
- Write the lesson. How will it make the next person's day safer, easier, or better?
- Respect privacy and safety. No humiliating colleagues, exposing customers, or publishing confidential project details.
- Preserve the record. Add a numbered entry to the versioned exhibit file, review, and publish.

The aim is not perfection. The aim is to make every failure we can learn from worth something to the people who follow.
